Background

Gerald Hoots, CPA, P.C. has been serving clients in the Salem area since its founding in 1956.

Our staff is comprised of one Certified Public Accountant, staff accountants, and support personnel with knowledge and experience in a variety of industries.

Continuing education is an integral part of the firm’s emphasis on quality. All CPAs on staff earn a greater number of educational credits than required by the State Board of Accountancy each year. Non-certified accounting staff also participate in ongoing accounting, auditing, and tax education and training. Some of our staff members are QuickBooks ProAdvisors.

How Do We Rate?

Gerald Hoots, CPA, P.C. received a grade of "Pass" in a recent independent peer review for the year ended March 31, 2021.

Such a review is required every three years for an accounting firm to qualify to provide accounting and auditing services to the public. A peer review involves having an independent Certified Public Accountant review the system of quality control for the accounting and auditing practice of the firm. A system of quality control encompasses the firm’s organizational structure and the policies adopted and procedures established to provide the firm with reasonable assurance of conforming with professional standards. The elements of quality control are described in the Statements on Quality Control Standards issued by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

A grade of “Pass” is the highest level of peer review assurance. This is the eighth consecutive successful peer review that the firm has received.
